Stone walls are different from place to place and in time. These are somewhat of a mystery, who and when these were made is uncertain. This land is not accessable to look closely, but these could be from the 1850s or much older. This wall would be suitable for herding cattle, sheep, or deer. These volcanic stone slabs stand on end and the spaces between those have been filled with stacked flat rocks. This wall is solid and tight all of the way to the top of the hil and maybe beyond. There is a flat space one the left side of the wall among trees where hunters could sit and wait for game when they pass thru, and prepare it when the got some. This could have been a seasooonal hunting camp. Or a wall made to claim making improvements on deeded land. https://www.kqed.org/news/11689504/uncovering-the-real-story-behind-the-mysterious-east-bay-walls from 125 images
