If you suffer from a back injury or like me Ankylosing Spondylitis then this is for you, You will still need to do a little bit of work yourself but this will help you with your strimmer as the wheels you used to be able to buy are no more sadly. I take no credit at all for this design, it was very kindly put together for me in 15 minutes this morning while talking to a very nice and clever designer from Sweden called Daniel Melin who designed this for free for me. I emailed him across an idea and within 2 messages and 15 minutes he came up with this. There is a picture attached to give you an idea but this is a old plastic wheel and legs design and you can not purchase this any longer. My and Daniels design calls for flat steel bar, 30 mm wide and 5 mm thick, commonly available, you will need to drill 8 x 8.5 mm holes in the Stays (bars) to line up with the 2 holes in the bracket, one for the wheel to attach and finally one for each side of the cross member and corresponding holes in that. The cross member is to go between each stay to hold the wheels apart and prevent it collapsing. This is fairly easy metal to bend or use aluminium if you do not have a heavy vice. Each person is a different height and weight and you will need to make the bends in the stays and the cross member to your own design. I and Daniel are merely providing a bracket to make life easier.. Most Strimmers of note or Brushcutters use a standard 26 mm shaft, basically bolt this bracket near the head of the strimmer and then make your own legs , crossmember and bolt to the bracket and add the wheels. The bolts used are all M8 8mm Metric. Its recommended that use use Loctite Red, spring washers or Nylocs because of vibrations, failing that superglue the threads. Finally the wheels are obtained either online from ebay, a set of child stabiliser wheels or like me I was able to obtain a set of mobility scooter pneumatic wheels which are perfect for my ground. You could even adapt this to run off a single ball wheel if you can find one and have a 360 degree strimmer with the weight on the ground. You could also use the front wheels off an old wheelchair from a scrap merchant. This will allow the strimmers weight to be transferred to the wheels and you should be able to use the shoulder harness and just move the strimmer around to the desired height and area a lot more easily. This for me means a lot less pain in my lower back and my wholehearted thanks go out to Daniel Melin. Thank you. Feel free to tweak, change, adjust but if you share please credit the 3D designer , Daniel Melin. as it was made for a Disabled Person.Thank you very much. Update 23 Dec, all printed and came out very well, heavy and strong and will be strong enough for inflatable small wheels.
