Beast up your RepRap Prusa i3 with aluminium corner pieces. No threaded rod protruding from the front! Cut or machine 20x20mm stock, drill respective holes and tap here and there... use grub screws instead of zip ties to hold the smooth rods. So shiny and sturdy! see more at: droopas.blogspot.com Instructions I recommend the SketchUp (.skp) file to get an idea of placement of holes. Machine four pieces of 20x20mm stock to a length of 52mm. In all pieces, drill through two 8 mm holes 10mm and 30mm from the bottom. These holes will accept the 8mm threaded rods. Also drill a 8mm hole perpendicular to the previous holes 45mm from the bottom. This hole should be 15 mm deep to hold the smooth rods. Drill and tap a hole to accept grub scew to hold the smooth rod. I found M6 works nicely. In the two front corner pieces, drill 8.5mm holes 15mm into the block and tap with M10 parallel to the smooth rods. These holes are drilled 20 mm from the bottom In the two back corner pieces drill 10mm holes parallel to the smooth rod holes. Assemble by two M10 threaded rods and use nuts to fasten, and four M8 threaded rods and nuts (use dome nuts if you want it to look fancy).
