Printer: Up Plus Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: Fine Infill: Solid Filament: NA Nylon Notes: Make your choice of material to print in - e.g. : Nylon, ABS, etc ... Print out with face ( flat edge ) down ... Be sure to print a full set ... How I Designed This Dimensions copied from Original - Drawn in Sketchup, checked in Netfabb ... May come back to re - 'scan' this later ... ( TBA ) Printing The print quality is dependant on a few factors : • Thickness of layers. • Type of plastic used. • Temperature. Most common types of plastic: • PLA ( Polylactic Acid ) - Is bio degradable & not really suitable for these applications. • ABS ( Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene ) - Is exactly the same stuff the manufactures use for most of their parts. • PETG ( Polyethylene terephthalate ) - Stuff used in plastic drink bottles. • PC ( Polycarbonate ) - Used for Remote control Body shells ... • TPE ( Thermoplastic Elastomers ) - Rubber equivalent for flexible parts ... There's quite a few more out there, but you get the jist of it ... • ABS tis generally ok for most applications, should last about the same as original ( better if kept it out of sun ) & If you want a really fine finish - you can do what's called 'vapouring' - ( fumes from acetone ) to smooth it out ... • NYLON is recommended for this application - mainly to ensure stability in high temperatures found in the wheel location ... Print out as many you need : • Clean-up afterwards & remove any supports etc... Fitting After you have printed the retainer ring/s, check it to make sure it's clean & ready to use ... • Remove wheel & ensure it is clean & ready to go … • Insert retainer on wheel with flat surface facing inwards. ( You may need to loosen / take the wheel of to do it ) ... • Feed the retainer ring into wheel center hole by slightly twisting, whilst pressing to fit ... ( will add some photos later when I can ) • Small tab locator should fit in groove on existing wheel. ( Do note that Not all wheels have these, so file off the tab if groove is not there ) ... • Once fitted, tap in Center cap … ( can be done with wheel on or off the car ) • Center cap should have metal clips on the back, make sure they engage correctly on lip of ring. ( It may be easier to put on / take of cap while wheel is removed ) ... • Put wheels back on car ( if not already ) & go for a test run, make sure they still there when you get back … Notes This is a first draft, will update later if required. Taken from an approximate measure up only ... The white one is original - black copy. You may need to trim / file down one end to fit correctly. Retainer is subject to change, as I may need to 'rescan' it later. Ciao, Bantum ... Edits First draft ... 2015 Generally revised ... 2018
