This assembly replaces the factory Subaru WRX hood scoop from 1996-2001. If you have swapped intake manifolds to a taller 04-05 manifold with spacers, then it likely fouled the hood and required a hole to be cut at the mouth of the factory scoop. This covers that hump of a manifold and shields it from the sun, while venting underhood heat. Instead of a scoop, you can 3D print a vent that fits the factory opening. This takes about 20hrs to print, so take your time. It will take a whole 1kg roll, so try to have 2 handy ($50 in filament at current prices.) I had to make this work on a 12in bed and the tradeoff was time. That's why the parts are a little simpler looking. It takes about $40 in hardware from the store in 2022 prices to assembly everything. Qty 6 M8 x 45 bolts Qty 6 M8 locknuts Qty 16 M8 washers. Substitute lockwashers for locknuts if desired. Qty 2 M6 x 65 bolts Qty 2 M6 x 55 bolts Qty 2 M6 x 45 bolts Qty 6 M6 locknuts Qty 12 M6 flat washers. Substitute lockwashers for locknuts if desired Tips n tricks: --I used an Anycubic Mega X with a V6 hotend and a bondtech extruder. --This was designed to print on a 12in heated bed. An enclosure is highly recommended for ASA. ASA plays nicer than ABS. PLA and PETG not recommended. --Each part takes 4-6hrs to print. This design was the simplest and quickest to print. --stick close to the print, just because of the temperatures involved. It can still peel away from the bed. 100C on the bed might be more ideal, but 90 was the limit on my printer. -some sanding around the edges may be needed for final fitment. LIGHTLY hit the sanded areas with a butane torch on low heat to bring the color back. -the plates do not fit absolutely flush with one another due to the differences in printers and settings. IF you want a flush fit and intend to do the body work, then enlarge the print on X and Z by 2-3% and sand to fit. A TIGHT, FLUSH FIT WILL SQUEAK FROM THE CONTACT OF THE PLATES AND ROAD VIBRATION. We left about 1mm of clearance to prevent this. You can clearance the mounting holes with a drill to give yourself some play and bring the tolerances tighter if you like.
