What is subkick : It works like a microphone, but designed especially for bass frequencies. A regular mic is not always so great at bass. There is actually a 6.5" speaker inside í drum shell, wired to make the speaker act like a microphone (a microphone and speaker are very similar, and each will work as the other, if wired that way). Essentially, it's a drum mic...to the extreme. DW makes one too, their's is just usually the same diameter as your bass drum.
