What Do The First Four Perfect Squares Add Up To? We're given four perfect squares: one, four, nine, and sixteen. These numbers represent the areas of pyramids with specific volumes. Each pyramid has a volume equal to the sum of consecutive square numbers: 1^2 + 2^2 + 3^2 + 4^2. This formula can be generalized for any pyramid. The six pyramids we have fit perfectly into a rectangular box with dimensions 9 x 4 x 5 units. Can you discover a formula that will allow us to calculate the volume of an n-pyramid?
