I was missing one of the adapter spindles and found the common adapters that sometimes come in the old films did not work very well. This item adapts the smaller squared-off spindle on 8mm movie viewers to super 8mm core size. The slot is for the retaining lever to folder over into. Enjoy. But chances are, nobody is editing film anymore...
