I wanted to use the block steps from the original Thing to hold note paper on my desk, so I hollowed them out just for that purpose. They can probably be put to use in other ways as well, but this was the first thought that came to mind for me. It was a happy accident that these are the perfect size for the 4"x6" 3M lined Post-It note pads.
