Superman is a fictional superhero, who first appeared in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian artist Joe Shuster in 1933 when they were both living in Cleveland, Ohio. Superman was born on the planet Krypton and was given the name Kal-El at birth.
