This project aims to increase the manufacturing rate of FaceShield masks by making an injection mold (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Injection_moulding). The base model for the execution was the one elaborated by Prusa (https://www.prusa3d.com/covid19/).
There have been simplifications and changes to the product to cheapen the mold manufacturing to be competitive with 3D printing.
A market based printer costs an average of R$2.500,00 and manufactures 25 FaceShield parts/day.
The mold costs around R$40.000,00 with a 1000 pieces/day manufacturing fee. Comparing investment and manufacturing we have 400 parts/day in the printers and 1000 parts/day with the mold with the same investment of R$40.000,00, 250% more in the mold.
