surf2solid.py

surf2solid.py

thingiverse

This Python script generates a solid from a function of x, y, r, and t (theta in radians), plotting and returning the result as a .scad or .stl file depending on usage. Parameters are set at the top of the script, and the function is specified as a string. The code requires Numpy library and welcomes modifications. It has been updated for base polygon generation, normal orientation in output files, scaling issues, command line argument parsing, and OpenSCAD compatibility. For Linux or Mac users, run the script with "python surf2solid.py > test.stl" or alternatively using "./surf2solid.py output.stl" after making it executable or moving it to /usr/bin for easier access.
