Swarf insert for Ridgid-brand shop vac hose

I created this simple insert after getting repeated clogs in my shop vac hose. Metal machining is a hobby of mine and I use the vac to suck up chips and swarf. Even after cleaning up most swarf by hand before vacuuming, inevitably I still end up sometimes sucking up leftovers which get stuck. If you've ever spent half an hour with a broomstick or 5 pound slug of metal to get a stubborn nest of swarf or shop rag out: you know what I'm talking about. I've been using this in my vac for a few weeks now and it works great. It hasn't interfered with normal vacuuming. When you do suck up material too quickly or long chips: they stop right at the inlet so you can easily clear it out. This insert was specifically designed for the Home Depot Ridgid brand Pro-Grade hose. The taper nests between the soft/flexible PVC hose adapter and the hard plastic end. Separating the 2 parts to install this insert is much easier if you use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the flexible side (not too much heat though or you may permanently distort it). The Home Depot hose P/N (i'm not affiliated with HD; the hose is fairly decent though) Internet #305626336 Model #LA2570 Store SKU #1004654904 Store SO SKU #1003254425
