This is a bird house designed to look like a traditional Swedish cottage with a small front porch.

You can decide if you want to print the house shell as one piece:

gehaeuse_v2

or you can print the house shell in 3 parts:

Floor: boden_v2

Sidewall 1: fasssade_01

Sidewall 2: fasssade_02_v2

There are also two mounting plates for the house available:

montageleiste | for screw mounting (M6 or similar)

montageleiste_2 | for zip tie, wire or string mounting

What you need:

Patience ( My printing time was ~100h)

Super Glue

A drinking straw (5mm Outer Diameter) for the roof gutter

A M6 Screw and nut or something similar to mount the birdhouse to the mounting braket

4 M5 Nuts and 4 Screws for the detachable roof

I have also used black nail polish and painted the surface for the window and door opening black before i glued the parts to the house. Additional notes:

The standard birdhouse hole size is 30mm (einflugring_gewinde) and 45mm (einflugring). Please have a look here for different birdhouse hole sizes if you want to attract a specific bird.:

https://www.thespruce.com/bird-house-hole-sizes-386641

http://www.vogelhaus-nistkasten.de/nistkaesten/einflugloch-nistkasten/ (For birds that are typical for germany)

Please make sure to add support, when you are printing the roof. The roof is the only part of the assembly that needs a little bit of support at the bottom of the print.

If you have a woodpecker close by the chances are high, that he will like the sound of the birdhouse and will tear big holes in the walls. It happened to me already twice. I really don't have a solution for that. I printed the 3rd house now with almost 100% infill for the walls. I hope this will help.

UPDATE:

There is a new assembly for the birdhouse hole:

SCREW: einflugring_gewinde and

NUT: einflugring_mutter.

You can change the hole size for a specific bird type e.g. with the Microsoft 3D Builder. And if you like you can also add them as a remix.

Print Settings

Printer:

Hypercube

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0,2mm

Infill:

>25%

Notes:

My Bird house was printed with the following Materials:

Das Filament PETG - Ruby Red

Das Filament PETG - Black

Das Filament PETG - White

Category: Outdoor & Garden
