Swing guide mechanism

Swing guide mechanism

grabcad

The driving crank, or green rod, pivots on the slider; meanwhile, the slider glides smoothly along the driven guide, which is represented by the red rod. The connecting rod, identified as yellow, remains stationary. For the guide bar to swing freely, it's essential that the length of the active crank be shorter than that of the connecting rod - a distinction from the rotating guide mechanism. Observe closely, and you'll see through animation that as the crank rotates steadily, the swing lever moves at an uneven pace, exhibiting a rapid return feature.
