Swivel Brake for Office Chair

Swivel Brake for Office Chair

thingiverse

I designed this so that I could use my flight simulation rudder pedals without my office chair swiveling. To engage the brake, I use the lever built into the chair to lower the seat onto the printed column. There's grippy stuff on the bottom of the seat and the top of the column to prevent swiveling, because the lugs engage the base of the chair. The gas strut is still there, so you can stand up and reposition if you need to, and then you can just hit the lever to raise the seat up to "office mode" and swivel works great. It's designed for an Autonomous office chair, but it should work OK for anything with five legs. (Maybe some zip ties?) I initially designed it to have a PVC outer and inner column, but wound up making it a unitized one-piece assembly. If you want to sit taller, it'd be easy to modify this design or print out some circular shims. ChairSpacer.stl is designed at 5mm, but could be scaled to whatever height you want if you want to sit higher.
