A keyboard mount for my sim rig that acts like a writing bench in a uni/college lecture theatre. It can swivel out to the side of the cockpit for use in the rig, and then swivel back and down to be completely out of the way for storage or ease of entry/exit.

Suits a Logitech K400r wireless keyboard/trackpad, but the keyboard braces could be redesigned to suit whatever you are using. You could also just have a flat piece of plywood or similar bolted to the mount.

Hardware list:

shoulder pivot: M10 x 50mm + nut

swivel: M8 x 30mm + 2 washers + locknut

keyboard braces to keyboard adaptor: 4 x M6 x 20mm

stopper: 2 x M3 x 12mm

frame mount to rig frame: 3 x M8 x 50mm + washers + locknuts

frame swivel to shoulder pivot: 5 x M6 x 20mm

keyboard swivel to keyboard mount: 5 x M6 x 60mm

All parts are rotated ready to print without support. High infill is needed for strength.

You may need to sand the two swivel pieces to remove layer lines. It may also be worth putting a little dry lube between them during assembly. The bolt through the two swivel pieces can be torqued or loosened to alter the amount of friction in the joint.

The stopper pieces can go in several position to set the angle at which the keyboard rest when fully out.
Category: Hobby
