Info

I already have a Rode boom arm on my desk for a microphone and I wanted to be able to record overhead video and take photos of my desk with my phone. After a lot of searching, I didn't find anything that filled my needs so designed this.

The mount features three 3/8" - 16 screw holes to allow mounting in multiple directions depending on how your boom arm (or other device) is configured. 3/8" - 16 is used because its a standard size for mounting microphones and similar devices.

The grip should fit most phones. The grip slides open and is secured from underneath by an M10 sized screw. M10 is the size of all screws and screw holes except for the boom arm mount.

Printing Recommendations

For best results, the 3 screws/nuts (orange in the cover picture) should be printed flat head side down. Technically, printing them horizontally would give more torsion strength, but the addition of support material makes the screws/nuts much more difficult to clean up and to operate as designed. (If you're apply enough force to break the screws, you're doing it too hard!)

For the other three pieces (purple in the cover picture), the mount, mount slide, and arm extension:

See the 2nd picture that shows the correct printing orientations for the parts.

They should be printed on their sides.

Support material on the build plate ONLY. (Support material for the inset screw holes is nasty to get out and it affects the smoothness of the screws as designed.)

If your printer is moderately well calibrated, no special bridging considerations should be needed. The cavity where the mount slide fits into the mount has a narrow tolerance and support material is unusable in the small area anyway.
