This sword is believed to belong to a famous King of Yue Kingdom- Goujian in “Spring and Autumn Period” of ancient China. Yue Kingdom was conqured by Wu Kingdom, and Goujian was captured as horseman serving Fuchai, the King of Wu. 3 years later, he was agreed to be released back to his land. Every day, Goujian sleeps on firewoods, and tastes bitterness of a gallbladder hanging on the beam, reminding him for revenge. He raised an army and struck back 20 years later, and destroyed Wu Kingdom, became an overlord. The sword is made from bronze, with inscription of 8 characters in Chinese font decorated with worms and birds. When this sword was dug out from a tomb in Ancient Chu Kingdom territory in middle 20th century, the sword was NOT rusted after more than two thousand years, still sharp, and nobody can read the inscription. After deciphering, experts found it says, “This sword is made by and used by Goujian himself, the King of Yue”. But why this Yue sword is buried in Chu Kingdom? Nobody knows.
