Using the Manfrotto T Clamp & 35mm OD tubes, a 1000mm 3k tube comes in at 245g which might shave some weight off the thing but I doubt its enough, not to mention the fact that the single bolt for locking to the tubes is not ideal, a little rubber padding might help, also to reduce vibrations, still have to design a suitable motor mounts(35mm bobbin) & bearing mounts. the roll is going to need a nifty solution, if I go with 2 35mm support bearings I need a way to power the roll direct drive in-line, or offset with servos, but I think servos with a belt could add other issues, even though some are using that method.
