Taig Micro Lathe II CNC Conversion

Taig Micro Lathe II CNC Conversion

grabcad

This simple adapter mounts two NEMA 17 stepper motors to the Taig Micro Lathe II carriage. The conversion requires no modification to the lathe other than removal of the handwheels, and can easily be removed for manual control. Since the original rack & pinion is used, this conversion is not as good as a ballscrew conversion, but for someone just wanting to play around with CNC control of the carriage and cross slide, it works. The stepper connected to the pinion shaft has 50:1 gear reduction and the mounting plate is adjustable to allow for pinion gear wear.
