I'm a big fan of Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles series of novels, and in them he introduces a game called Tak - an abstract strategy game in the vein of Chess, or Go. This game was later created by James Ernst and Patrick Rothfuss, published by Cheapass Games, and has developed a pretty good following. Check out the reddit community on r/Tak if you're interested!

I've wanted to design a custom set of pieces since I started playing the game, and the Game Tokens contest gave me a great excuse to design a set.

I've created a set of 5 different tiles, and a capstone piece, leveraging a design pattern inspired by art from the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The game of Tak has a variable board size, which can range from 3x3 to 8x8 in normal play, with different board sizes indicating different allowed number of pieces per player.

In Tak, a full set for a single player can be up to 52 pieces in total. To create a full set for a single player, I suggest printing the following number of each model in this set (to maximize design diversity).

10 x Stone A

10 x Stone B

10 x Stone C

10 x Stone D

10 x Stone E

2 x Capstone

I suggest printing these on an SLA printer, or one suited for intricate detail. I'm working on a remix of the same pieces optimized for FDM printing, so you can expect that soon!

As always, C&C is welcome - and I'd love to see your prints!
