This is the preview edition and it's intended audience is for experienced builders only not general usage yet. This crossbow while it can be highly powerful. It is designed for backyard fun only. Ex, shooting empty cans in the back yard. This crossbow is highly experimental. It is still a work in progress and any part could change at any time as I fix issues or add features. The crossbow is functional and has been successfully fired with a 50lbs draw weight. Expect future improvements to the design. Please do not expect an easy build progress in this release. Some of the parts may need to be filed down to fit together. TALC stands for Tactical Printable Compact Crossbow. It is a slingshot crossbow inspired by the designs of JoergSprave from The SlingShot Channel. It uses flat thera-band resistance bands instead of a bow. The intention is to double or triple up thin sections of theraband and attach them to both sides of the crossbow. In this way you can increase the power of your draw. The crossbow is 25 inches long. Each part is design to be printed on a small 3d printer bed in modules. I have successfully printed this on a Prusa I3 with an 8x8 heated bed. See JoergSprave crossbow examples such as:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVb2bsTznD4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7ct_n1HVqM Here are some TALC test firing videos:http://tinypic.com/r/2itj1xe/5http://tinypic.com/r/2yorcrk/5 Materials Needs: 1) #6 bolts, washers and nuts. 2) 5/16 threaded rod, washers and nuts. 3) Theraband This crossbow includes many features such as: -Adjustable stock -Adjustable draw weight and draw length -Movable Stand/Bi-pod -Sight -Railing System for foregrip, sight and handle -Foregrip -trigger system -Supports 16inch crossbow bolts, longer is supported if you print extra body modules. All parts were designed using Freecad. Which is a free 3d modeling application. This release includes all stl and freecad files. It is released under the GNU GPL. Feel free to modify/fork the design as you wish. The Crossbow Helper Kit is currently out dated.http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:169596 Instructions Please use ABS plastic. Although for some parts PLA is fine. Some parts will require the use of support material. The body will need at least 4 shells and 50% infill for strength. The other parts can be printed with less. For example, 3 shells and 25% or 30% infill.
