Talkabout Holder

Talkabout Holder

I have an older set of walkie-talkies (Motorola Talkabout) radios that I use occasionally while out 4x4ing. I typically use a CB radio but on occasion someone in the group does not have a CB and will use a FRS or GMRS radio. So I made a holder that fits onto a typical phone mount ball that keeps the radio within easy reach. The radio has an odd shape and sits loosely in the holder. So I added a bit of sticky backed foam (like for a door seal) which makes the radio fit snuggly into the holder. The tightening knob uses an 8-32 x 1 1/4" hex head machine bolt and 8-32 nut. You may have to break the edges on the handle and ball mount with a razor knife to get the bolt to fit and to get the mount to snap onto the ball. The holder is shown attached to an M-Pow CD phone mount ball.
