**Update 17. march 2016:** I recommend taking a look at my new <a href="http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1404735">Tantillus Compact Ultimaker Slider Adapters</a> instead. --- As I modified my Tantillus I realized it worked just like an Ultimaker, and since I literally have changed everything I named my build Ultius. They use the standard 17mm spacing between XY rods' center. These XY ends are the effort of countless iterations of XY ends. They are quite sturdy and the XY rods are fixed with grub screws. The top has been lowered some to make room for the GT2 belt traversal and I have optimized it be able to take the strain of the belt mounting and there is even room for belt tensioning springs.
