I had switched to using an old credit card to apply tape and had a lot less issues of the first layers getting a good bond to the bed. This 3D printed applicator will help you to ensure strong adhesion of tape on the print bed. Due to the harder edge than that of a credit card, it will also "rough up" the surface slightly, helping further with adhesion.
