Tape Chain Wear indicator

The wear is measured by comparing two tapes, one of which is fixed to the pocket wheel of the hoist and rotates with it. The second tape is freely drawable on one side (also within the hoist) and fixed to chain link using a flight attachment on the other end. Two tapes are compared by means of vernier scale. The "fixed" part of the scale should be adjusted (or "zeroed") when a new chain is installed with four screws. As the chain wears out, the wear can be continuously monitored. The design could also include a green, yellow and red zone printed on the tape, thus indicating the wear by colors.
