Grit and small stones hurled up by the front wheels consistently lodged in the rear diff cup, leading to catastrophic failures of the entire assembly. However, upon closer inspection, it became apparent that the wheel side of the diff provided sufficient protection against such debris. To address this issue, a protective boot was designed to shield the vulnerable cup and axle end from harm. To print this part, flexible filament should be used, and a small brim is recommended to ensure a stable and even base for the boot. This simple modification would provide an added layer of defense against the ravages of road debris, safeguarding the diff and its components for years to come.
