TARS from Interstellar (Pose-able)

thingiverse

This is a scaled down model of the TARS robot from the movie Interstellar. I designed this replica model so that you it can pose it in different positions using magnets. I have tried alternate designs, including ones with axles that can be fitted in between the bearings, but using magnets seems to be the best alternative; you can easily move the parts to pose it in a different stance. The magnets that are able to fit snugly into this model are 6mm x 3mm in dimension. You will need a total of 16 in order to properly connect all the limbs together. If you cannot find these at a local store, I've provided an Amazon link to purchase the magnets: https://www.amazon.com/Refrigerator-Magnets-Premium-Brushed-Nickel/dp/B07R1WVS49/ref=asc_df_B07R1WVS49/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=380344908424&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6003842227685829835&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014207&hvtargid=pla-822366463132&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=80399410511&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=380344908424&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6003842227685829835&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014207&hvtargid=pla-822366463132 UPDATE: December 27th 2019 Scale the model exactly 997.81% on Cura or whichever slicing software you use in order for the magnets to fit. I've also updated the Amazon link to provide you the right magnets "Humor setting: 75%" Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Maker Select v2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 20% Notes: Printing with a raft is essential for the outer limbs because they are built on top of small rectangular platforms. These platforms can fall off easily, if the bed plate of your printer does not hold it securely. Thus, I have come to realize that using a raft for the outer limbs is the best solution. You will need to print 2 "Tars Side Section". (tl;dr) Print with a raft for the "Tars Side Section" file. The others do not require a raft. If you wish to print the limbs separately, to avoid warping with printing such a large surface area object, I've attached separate files for you to print. Remember, print with lower speeds (25mm/s) in order to obtain the highest resolution that this object has to offer. I would recommend printing at speeds of, at most, 50mm/s.
