This is Tars Tarkas, a character from the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. He’s the leader (or Jeddak) of the Tharks; a tribe of green men on Mars. This character has been featured in the movie “John Carter” from 2012 but I wasn’t quite satisfied with their interpretation so, armed with this article on the anatomy of the green martian and after doing some research into animal features (such as tusks and warts in warthogs and chameleon eyes), I came up with my own rendition.
