Tau Tank/Skimmer Sturdy Hovering Base

I have found that the standard Games Workshop large hovering bases aren't quite sturdy enough to safely support the weight of my Tau Devilfish and Hammerheads. Especially on inclines, it was like a bowling ball balanced on a broomstick! Therefore I designed a better way. If you want, you may benefit too, for the greater good: 1. I 3D printed the round base with U-shaped groove (download attached). 2. For a REALLY clear and sturdy stand component, I ordered a package of these small coin display stands (which fit perfectly into the u-shaped groove): https://smile.amazon.com/Display-Acrylic-Holder-Watches-Lighters/dp/B00BNPVB4A/ I used a Dremel cutting tool to sever the "L" ends, drilled (4) holes to receive magnets, and sanded smooth around contours of the bottom of my skimmers. 3. I then used Nickel Plated N52 neodymium disk magnets from K&J Magnetics: (4) D22-N52 (4) 1/8" dia. x 1/8" thick (to fit into the stand) (4) D24-N52 (4) 1/8" dia. x 1/4" thick (to fit into the model) I checked the balance of the model, then align the stand with where I wanted it underneath. Then I carefully marked the (4) locations onto the model and drilled out 1/8" dia. holes. I glued in the magnets with super glue (model) and Testor's clear parts cement (stand). 4. I primed and painted grass color into the u-shaped groove and all over the base. 5. I glued Woodland Scenics green turf over the surface of the base. 6. Finally I glued the clear part into the base using a healthy amount of Testor's clear parts cement. I sprinkled a bit more green turf into the glue that was extruded out of the groove. They work great and I love them! Good luck!
