Ten pound filament spool brackets

Ten pound filament spool brackets

This design is based around bearings salvaged from spent Makerbot extruders with a 3/4" outer diameter and a 0.375" (9.525 mm) inner diameter. This design is to adapt a suitable storage and distribution bracket that would suspend any 10 pound spool of filament. These spools are from Makebot.com and Matterhackers.com and have inner diameters ranging from 3/4" to 2". It was essential to adapt some zip ties to both put some tension on the brackets and provide some friction to the spindles so they don't spool out all over and maintain a constant slack on the filament. Minor scraping required between shelf rungs. Wire shelves have 1/8" wires spaced 2 3/8" apart and 1/4" shelf rungs spaced 7" apart.
