Tent peg and cable spike for soft ground (Glow In The Dark)

A tent peg or spike which can also be used to hold down your power cable in soft ground. I have also made some pegs for hard ground which can be found athttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:342506 print and enjoy but please don't sell them on Instructions This is my design for a printed tent peg, I have seen a few tents have plastic pegs and in soft ground I think the width of the flat side would act as a good anchor in the ground. The design has a recess to take the guy rope and two side hooks for holding down a power cable which also has the added benefit of preventing the rope slipping off should it go slack. The first one I made was in glow in the dark ABS as it will look good when the sun goes down and could prevent people tripping over them, the second was made in gold PLA. I tested the pegs by driving them in to the ground at 40 degrees with the flat facing the tent I did a load test on the ABS one first. The first pull to 25kg was fine but the second try of 30kg failed with the peg snapping in the middle. I then tested the PLA one, this pulled to over 35kg several time and was then removed ok. I think that PLA is probably the only way to go unless you only want it as a cable spike or can be sure it will not take large loads. The design has a tab on the pointed end as I found it wanted to lift when printed. Each peg is 180mm long in total with out the tab and 65mm wide, the spike part is 165mm long. The hooks for the cable have a 9mm opening which holds my 1.5mm 3 core mains cable that is Aprox 8mm dia. My PLA printed peg came out at 26 grams. I have made a file with 4 pegs on a 200mm table but its quite close to the edge, the machine I used has a 300mmx300mm table so 4 fits fine. I have now printed in glow in the dark PLA and they came out well. Thanks to Webelogs as I used his solar light peg as a starting point for my design. Printing.... I printed mine at 0.4 layer height for speed with 50% fill for strength, this kept the print time for each peg under 1 hour.I have a 50% scaled up reprappro mendel with a 0.5 nozzle.
