Designing a flying car is a huge challenge, mainly due to the lack of space for vital components a designer soon realises that the flying car gets bigger and bigger until you end up with something similar sized to a luxury car. The TF-X Is a practical Vehicle following the design of K.I.S.S (Keep it Simple Stupid) Thus ending up with a very practical vehicle that is meant to resemble that of a new,modern electric vehicle. The vehicle is designed to be easy to manufacture. Though its to be produced from carbon all the components are 2 sided mould-able thus tooling can easily be created. This vehicle could offer comfort for 3 passengers and 1 driver with the use of custom racing seats. These seats could be optimised for comfort in ways not previously used on motor vehicles. Mainly the used of padding to easy the acceleration during a transition. The Vehicle also has the capacity to hold luggage at the nose of the airVehicle. A design feature required of such a configuration is the Centre of Gravity. Typical aircraft require a CG 35% from the leading edge...with passengers being in front of the wing and engine beneath the wing there is a requirement of significant lift to be generated at the nose. For this reason a Canard has been utilized with steering system at the canard tips. The wheels at the canard tips will also be generating the Drive as the wheels will have internally mounted Hub motors.
