Tesla Model S Based Rim - Made to ETRTO Standards

thingiverse

This is a 1/3 scale version of a rim I designed for a recent Mechanical Engineering design assignment. The rim is based on the ETRTO standards for a 2018 Tesla Model S meaning theoretically it would fit if printed full scale. It uses an 8Jx19 ET40 rim contour, complete with 2 flat hump safety humps, a 5x120 bolt pattern and a 64.1 centre bore. As this is an ongoing assignment, this is only the first version of the rim and is therefore a work in progress. NOTE: This is a long (24 hours for myself) and difficult print. Supports are definitely required. It also uses quite a bit of filament (about 300g - a lot of this wasted on supports). I'm sure it could be printed at a smaller scale, however i would be worried about the rim wall being too thin as it's only about 1.5-2 mm thick even at 1/3 scale). At this scale though, the rim is very strong and feels solid. 0.3mm layer height was used for the most part but 0.16 was used as the top surface layers began being printed (this can be achieved using Slic3r Prusa Edition's variable layer height feature). I hope you enjoy and keep an eye out for an updated version soon!
