During the Guildhall redevelopment, VINCI Construction and City of York Council led the construction of foundations in the South Range. As part of this project, a 1m x 1m test pit was carefully excavated during a watching brief. This excavation provided an opportunity for us to examine a sequence of Roman surfaces in a significant location situated between the river crossing and the fortress's south-west entrance.
