Test tube ant-farm V1

Test tube ant-farm V1

Here are photos of a test tube ant-farm I use instead of concrete or plaster artificial nest. It is used since last year, so it is viable. the aim is to get a low maintenance ant-farm, test tubes providing moisture for months. test tubes can be removed provinding access to brood if needed. Designed for 20ml test tubes (16,3mm x 150mm). I'm still improving this thing, and a v2 update is already available and will be uploaded. Instructions Lasercut plexi PMMA parts (3 mm) and wood parts (3mm wood or plexi). Use 5/8 mm PVC clear tube, cyanoacrylate glue, nuts and bolts to assemble. Designed for 20ml test tubes (16,3mm x 150mm). As you can see on photos, PBC clear tube is used to center washer, then a drop of glue is used between 2 layers of plexi (as PVC clear tube is difficult to glue). I always use 2 layers of plexi to glue PVC clear tube. For example, see the antfarm // outworld junction. After, cutt off the excess. If you want infos about keeping ants, see http://antfarm.yuku.com/ in English or http://www.acideformik.com in French.
