The TGV Atlantique are SNCF electric TGV trains, capable of 300 km/h, put into service in 1989 when the first branch (West) of the LGV Atlantique was opened. This is the second generation of TGVs, characterized externally: by its "Atlantique" metallic grey and blue livery; by its more streamlined power cars; by its longer trainsets (10 trailers instead of eight). Other important differences distinguish them from the TGV Sud-Est: the installed power is 8800 kW (compared to 6400 kW for the TGV Sud-Est); the use of synchronous motors: only the axles of the end locomotives are motorized; as a result, the end compartments of cars 1 and 10, above the axles adjacent to the previously motorized power cars, are equipped to accommodate passengers; the interior fittings were reviewed, including equipped spaces for families. Coupling in Multiple Unit is allowed only between them. Roger Tallon is the designer of the livery and interior of the original version, succeeding Jacques Cooper. The latter is the designer of the silhouette, in addition to having designed the first TGV4. The current livery of the TGV Atlantique is signed Christian Lacroix (renovation from 2005 to 2010). This TGV Atlantique trainset is wearing the Eurodeputés livery.
