The Any Shield - The easily 3D printable face shield

Over the past few weeks I have seen some amazing 3D printing and maker movements to support the medical community, such as the one by Prusa Research ( https://www.prusa3d.com/covid19/ ). However, I have personally been uninvolved because of the size limitations and doubts of my printing ability. Looking at what nurses at hospitals are currently using to protect themselves, I realized that there is a need for quick, reusable, and cheap face shields to protect hospital workers. With that in mind, I set out to design a shield that could be made from readily available materials on a small 3D print bed. The end result is a clip system that can accommodate most clear plastics to create a quick shield to provide a physical barrier between the wearer and the environment around them. This design is currently being printed and given to medical professionals in Los Angeles area hospitals. A huge thanks to my father, Steven for helping to spur along the design process (and for modeling the shield). Disclaimer I am by no means a professional engineer, just a student looking to do their part during this crisis. Face shields in general are no replacement for proper masks and other personal protective equipment, but are instead intended to be used in conjunction with these to provide an additional layer of protection.
