**Please note:** A few changes to my usual posts; I decided to publish the full Fusion 360 files to make it easier to remix and modify the design. The source files, as well as all the .dxf files for carbon cutting are on a Google Drive so I can properly organize them in folders and don't have to deal with the chronically overloaded Thingiverse servers: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PkVF3yL3mgqEz9Cd2ZyQ5oBAQJkcWkOJ?usp=sharing About the Design ===================================== ________________ The Bando Bastard (reference to Kabab FPV calling 6 Inch "Bastard Size") is a mid range and freestyle frame that comes in two different layouts (dead-cat and wide-X) each in 5 and 6 Inch. This design is something I basically made according to my own needs and therefore it has a specification that is less versatile and more focussed on certain aspects of performance: * It's ultra durable with 6mm arms and a very sturdy main body. The downside is a weight slightly on the heavy side (the 6" version is around 100g and the 5" slightly less). * The electronics layout is a double 20x20 mainly to fit the [Caddx Vista](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/KD3KMQ9r9R) system. It does not support 30x30 stacks anymore. * The main body is very compact compared to what you would usually see on a freestyle frame. This noticeably reduces drag and therefore increases cruising and tops speed as well as flight times. The Downside here is that I had to sacrifice the capability to carry a GoPro (I personally stopped caring about producing hundreds of gigabytes of useless 4K footage and the DJI HD DVR is good enough if I just want to re-watch my flight afterwards. Build Recommendations ============================== ________________________________ **Electronics:** * F7 FC and 20x20 ESC: [Aikon F7](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/3DKmznSc9k) + [Aikon 20x20 ESC](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/KD3vzs9cIn) and [Diatone F722](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/vDmDZy219c), [Flywoo Goku F722](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/vGG3Mn9c8f) * VTX: [Caddx Vista](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/KD3KMQ9r9R) for DJI HD and [Rush Tank Mini 800mW](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/mGKmnTVUEa) for analogue. * Antenna: The stock Caddx Vista antenna is way too short and will be blocked by the battery. I upgraded to a [TBS Triumph pro LHCP](https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:triumphpro_lhcp_sma) and have amazing results. For analoge a [Foxeer Lollipop](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/Gv3mi8DUKi) or [Long Range Axii](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/mvvv4y56uB) will do the job. * Receiver: [TBS crossfire](https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:crossfire_nano_se) is basically the only option that makes sense at the moment if you ask me. I totally fell in love with the [Tango II](https://www.team-blacksheep.com/products/prod:tbs_tango_2) the current software still has a few annoying bugs but it's by far the most comfortable and ergonomic radio controller I ever used. **Powertrain:** Smooth and efficient 6" 6S cruiser (my personal setup). Reaches over 9 minutes on a 1300mah 6S and over 20 on a 4000mah 4S Li-Ion * [GEPRC 2306.5 1350kV](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/mGmDzn9PcQ) * [Gemfan 6042](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/K3D3UAiHCq) 5" freestyle powertrain: * Bling bling option: [Flywoo Nin 2207+](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/DKDKzAStVD) or [RCinpower Smoox](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/3GGmMbIPWf) * Budget option: [Emax Eco 2207](https://www.banggood.com/custlink/vGKK5orsBS) **Where to get the frame cut** CNCmadness in Canada is my favourite CNC cutting service. Very reasonably priced and worldwide shipping --> cncmadness@gmail.com I organized the files on the google drive linked above in folders so it's easy to figure out what you need: * 1x 2mm top plate * 1x front brace * For dead cat layouts: 2x front arms 2x rear arms * For wide-X: Arms are identical so just get 4 * 1x Bottom Plate 2mm & 1x Arm Link 2mm (They are different for wide-x and dead cat so make sure you pick the right ones). * Standoffs: You'll need 6x20mm M3 standoffs and 2x28mm standoffs. How to support: * The best way to support me is by clicking on the affiliate links in this post and then buying any item of your choice (doesn't have to be the one in the link). This get me free FPV components. To be honest I would not be willing to do that much testing and development if I had to put all the money in from my own pocket. * Follow on [Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkoI3H6exUxzd5pbadisWig?view_as=subscriber) and [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/dave_c_fpv/)
