This is an extremely effective universal 1/2 UNF moderator for 4.5/5.5mm caliber. The perfect accessory for silent backyard target shooting and plinking. The thread outer diameter has been sized to fit exactly the 28mm shroud of the FX Wildcat MK3, but it can be used with any other 1/2 UNF barrel. When it comes to airgun moderators, the most significant aspect apart from the general design is the volume. The outer diameter is 40mm and the length is 16cm. The design contains 4 baffles of decreasing volume, an initial expansion chamber and it is covered with one layer of medical cotton and a second layer of felt fabric. The result is extremely effective. The mechanical action of the airgun becomes louder than the expanding air... A comparison results sheet has been included with (No Moderator), (Same internals but with an Aluminum enclosure) and (full PLA). The sound meters have been placed 2m behind and to the side of the airgun. The noise reduction result in front of the barrel is double the db. A spectrum analysis of the produced sound is also included. You assemble the baffles in the order shown, then you wrap tightly with a layer of medical cotton and finally with felt until you complete the diameter of the baffle body. Instead of felt you can use cleaning pads from your local super market which are almost the same. Just make sure that you can blow air through them. Glue the top cover to the main body with a 2 part epoxy and use after 12 hours. When you screw the moderator for the first time, do it slowly and like tapping a thread. PLA, 100% fill, 200C nozzle, 60C bed, 50mm/s speed, no supports. The model has been printed on an Ender-3 and sliced with Cura 4.8 Silent and extremely lightweight at only 83gr minimizing barrel droop. This moderator puts to shame many commercial and very expensive ones... You can now have a lot of fun and not disturb your neighbors at the same time!
