The BRACElet

For my Extreme Redesign idea, I wanted to create a sort of wristband that would support the wrist and protect against injury when using a computer mouse. My idea is the BRACElet, a two piece bracelet designed to be supportive, ergonomic, and useable. It features openings for the wrist bones to not be confined and a space to insert a small support pad. The support pad elevates the wrist to lessen the angle of bending. By being two pieces, it is easy to put on and won’t be too large or too small. The BRACElet will be 3D printed through FDM3D printing this is ideal so that the bottom of the bracelet can slide easily on a mousepad and not create any friction. The bracelet allows for maximum motion of the wrist, whereas a mousepad with a support cushion can be too small for a mouse with low sensitivity or a large computer display. The available space on the top of the bracelet also gives consumers the ability to customize what it looks like. For people with wrist injuries who find it hard to use a computer mouse, the available options limit what one can do too much. This bracelet can give people the wrist support they need, without sacrificing any freedom.
