"The Broken Heart" (Ruins of Mad Marc's Castle)

My friend Winston and I scanned Mad Marc’s Castle in Albany, California on September 21st 2019. Unfortunately, we discovered it had recently been destroyed after standing for many years. Even though it was a bit disappointing that we were unable to scan the structure in its full glory, it was still a very cool project to be a part of. This was the first scan I’ve worked on, so Winston guided me through the entire process. I learned a lot and can’t wait to make more detailed scans with proper lighting, lenses, and understanding of RealityCapture and Blender. We ended up bringing the model into NeosVR, and added a ton of fun lights and props to make it feel like a fun space to watch streams, listen to music, create art, or just hang out. While scanning the building we were entirely oblivious to its heart shape until we were able to the view the scan in a smaller size. Shot with a Sony RX 100 Miii and Canon 6D.
