This is a depiction of the famous Czech fairy-tale (originally written by Božena Němcová and later used as a theme for many movies and an opera), "Devil and Kate". It describes how the stupid Devil came to the Earth to take an evil duchess, and instead abducted an impertinent vilage girl, Kate. She causes havoc in Hell and he eventually decides to return her back, to the joy of her boyfriend, Jíra, who in exchange helps the Devil find the right woman.
