The Ferris Wheel

thingiverse

This is a red, white, and blue Ferris Wheel with a rubber band pulley system to turn the wheel with the crank. There are twelve carts which spin independently as the wheel turns. The parts are divided into three print jobs--one for each color--and are intended to be printed on a MakerBot Replicator (5th Edition). Lots of assembly required! Gorilla Glue is recommended for assembly, but many pieces can rely on friction to snap together. Print Settings Rafts: Yes Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: .15, can go smaller (.10) for the smaller pieces Infill: Printed at 10%, but a higher infill is recommended Notes: Could have just been an error on my printer, but the rafts were very difficult to remove from the bottoms of the wheels. Post-Printing How I Designed This Designed in SketchUp Make. Exported as STL to MakerBot. SketchUp model is scaled properly (select "Inches -> mm" in MakerBot settings). Video of the Wheel in Action
