The Filamolder - A large scale 3d printer

####NEW UPDATE 6-14-18 #####THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED. I’ve found newer interests and I have decided that 3d printing is now only a side-hobby. This Project will be repurposed for upcoming, much larger projects. Thanks for the support along the journey! This one may be over, but something Much, much bigger is coming... Watch what I’ve been up to: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdU4ombxhukm2o7mpPnc_lA?view_as=subscriber . . . . . . . . This is a thing-page created for my project: The “Filamolder.” My first custom-designed, open-source (to a certain extent), Cartesian 3d printer. I will Post all the files as I finish designing them. This machine is designed around 3d printed parts and was made in TinkerCAD and OnShape. Non-3d printed parts consist of 2x2” stud wood, some 2020 aluminum Extrusions, and an 8mm linear rod. So far the machine’s range of movement is about: (in) Axis X: 16.8 (42.6) Axis Y: 22.6 (57.4cm) Axis Z: 23 (58.4cm) The build dimensions may be slightly smaller due to other factors. The machine will most likely have two extruders to one genuine e3d volcano hotend with a .6mm nozzle bore. It will be direct drive extruder system. The build plate will most likely be about 60cm x 60cm but only a 30cm x 30xm portion in the middle is heated by a silicone heater. The machine will have acrylic panels on the sides to cover up most of the sides for a possible heated chamber configuration. It will use nema 17 steppers and ordinary gt2 belts on a ramps 1.4. The machine so far is about 70cm x 70cm x 71cm. It is a BIG printer, and will probably weight at least 60 lbs. (~27kg) I have a dedicated little short table for the machine but caster wheels can be added for more mobility. This project will certainly take a long time so bear with me as I wait for parts to arrive. I Highly recommend you DO NOT start building this printer YET until I confirm it is no longer a WORK IN PROGRESS. Things are destined to change so please, wait until it is finished! Thank you for looking and watching along with the build process! I will also soon add videos explaining kinematics, prototypes, and other stuff. Feel free to add suggestions for the printer.
