"The Force" controlled RC Thunder Trax

This project hacks an Air Hogs Thunder Trax RC vehicle by replacing the standard remote with an accelerometer enabled gauntlet. To control the vehicle, you simply move your hand in the direction you want it to go. Master Yoda would be proud. This project was inspired by someone with a disability affecting one arm leaving them only in control of their right arm. This hack allows them to enjoy the fun of controlling an RC vehicle with just one arm. The project was implemented with education in mind as well. All circuits are open and easily visible so that one can see all the components required to make it work. All printing instructions, construction details, and program listing are provided in the attached Build Instructions PDF file. Additionally, we created a STEM educational handout to provide to students at science fairs, maker fairs, and STEM expos. Enjoy!
