The Garden of Words

Yukari in The Garden of Words This is a low poly recreation of the main setting of the anime movie The Garden of Words (Japanese: 言の葉の庭 Kotonoha no Niwa). The setting was almost wholly based on a pavilion near the Taiwan Pavilion in the Japanese garden section of Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. For this 3D model, I took cues both from the real garden using pictures from Google as well as pictures from my own visit and from the movie, which differs slightly in the details. For most of the foliage and plants, I made use of Blender’s particle system. Unfortunately due to size considerations I did not use particle systems for the bushes.
