The Gardener, London Wall

This sculpture, named 'The Gardener', is located outside the Brewers Hall on the south side of London Wall. It is located in the small Brewers Hall gardens. The statue, by Karin Jonzen (1914-1998), was commissioned in 1971. The life sized statue, made from bronze, is on a low white stone plinth. It depicts a male figure, in working clothes, with his left knee resting on the ground. His right foot is planted on the ground and his right hand rests upon his right knee with his elbow pointing skywards. His left hand is touching the ground in front of him as if tending to a plant. His head is in a downward position paying attention to what he is doing. This is a pose that many will recognise. This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free. Scan the World is an open source, community effort, if you have interesting items around you and would like to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to find out how you can help.
