My automaton tells the story of how gorilla's are always in search of their favorite food source, bananas. I and all the other students have had about 6-8 weeks to work on our automatons. This mechanism works by a square axle which has eccentric cams attached to it. The axle is spun by round follower bushing and as it rotates the square followers are pushed up, moving the gorillas up and down closer towards the bananas they are trying to get. I used round bushing for my follower bushings. I made 2 25mm holes to fit my axle bushings in the wooden box and I put 2 15mm holes for the follower bushings. I used green paint to simulate the gorillas in a jungle and I 3-D printed the gorillas and bananas, and I painted the bananas yellow and printed the gorillas black.
